The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has insisted this Friday on denouncing public officials who cover up femicides, all this after it became known that a prosecutor had a relationship with the alleged perpetrator of the death of Ariadna Fernanda.

After the confrontation of the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office with that of Morelos, the Mexican president has maintained that the authorities involved should be denounced for the alleged links of the prosecutor Uriel Carmona in a «case of cover-up», all this after the denunciation of the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, reported ‘El Sol de Mexico’.

Asked if the governments of Morena, his party, should denounce as Sheinbaum did, the Mexican president answered in the affirmative, detailing that «yes, it has to be denounced and that there is no impunity, that whoever is punished and must intervene».

«There are suspicions of complicity. Of course, punish those responsible and zero impunity, that is the worst thing there can be, the fact that there is no division, separation between alleged criminals and authorities or that there is protection, that things are hidden, that they want to protect criminals», López Obrador reproached.

For López Obrador, the murder of the 27-year-old woman must be cleared up «as soon as possible», although he expressed his confidence that results will soon be forthcoming.

Ariadna Fernanda, who lived in Mexico City, disappeared on October 30 after meeting with a group of friends in the Condesa neighborhood of the capital. Two days later some cyclists found her body on a road in the neighboring state of Morelos.

Mexican authorities claim that the suspect and his partner, Vanessa, are allegedly linked to Morelos prosecutor’s office staff in a «cover-up case» by Morelos prosecutor Uriel Carmona Gándara.
