The secretary general of United Russia, Russia’s ruling party, Andrei Turchak, has escaped unharmed from a Ukrainian attack during a visit in eastern Ukraine, Russian deputies have confirmed.
The convoy in which Senator Turchak was traveling was assaulted in the town of Lisichansk, a city in the Lugansk People’s Republic, recently incorporated into Russia and considered occupied territory by Ukraine and its allies, as he was returning from a hospital to visit wounded in combat.
«Turchak and some of his colleagues had finished visiting several combat units during their visit to a hospital. On their way back, Turchak and his colleagues were attacked. No one was injured, but their car was damaged,» Viktor Vodolatski, first deputy speaker of the lower house of Russia’s parliament, told TASS news agency.
The Russian authorities in Lugansk have taken the opportunity to denounce new Ukrainian attacks during the last hours against the city with rocket attacks launched from multiple launching systems, with no injuries reported so far.
