Australian authorities said Friday that they have imposed another package of sanctions against seven senior Russian officials on the Crimean peninsula and restricted their entry into the country.
The new sanctions target authorities in the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014 and, according to Canberra, these are citizens who have significant clout in the city of Sevastopol, the most important city in the area.
These include the governor and the secretary of the region’s Electoral Commission, among others, who have been placed on the Australian Government’s ‘blacklist’ of those sanctioned in connection with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as contained in a Foreign Ministry list.
By now, the Government has imposed such restrictions against more than a thousand people after the beginning of the invasion in February 2022.
