
At least three inmates died Tuesday in a riot that took place in the maximum security prison known as La Roca, in the penitentiary complex of Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Among the victims, there is also an injured person, who has been taken to a hospital for treatment.
As reported by the National Service of Integral Attention to Adults Deprived of Liberty (SNAI) in a press release, a series of confrontations took place between members of the R7 gang and the Los Lobos group.
The clashes began at around 14.00 hours (local time), although two hours later the SNAI assured that it had regained control of La Roca, reports the newspaper ‘Primicias’.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has reported that it has initiated investigations into the incident at the prison, indicating that two inmates have been »apprehended for their alleged participation in the event».
