Iranian authorities claimed Wednesday to have prevented a drone attack on a Defense Ministry facility in the central province of Isfahan, an incident that reportedly ended without casualties or material damage.
According to information gathered by the Iranian news agency Tasnim, the target of the attack, repelled by the Iranian defensive systems in the area, was the Amir al Momenin complex. For the moment, no further details have emerged and the Iranian government has not pointed out who was responsible for the attack.
The event comes more than two months after a drone attack on an explosives warehouse in the city of Isfahan. Iran claimed at the time that it was carried out on the orders of a »foreign security service» and with the support of »Kurdish opposition groups».
The Iranian government then stressed that the drone attack on a Defense Ministry complex failed and asserted that it caused only slight material damage to the roof of the building. Tehran specified that one of the three aircraft was shot down by the defense systems of the facilities themselves, while the other two exploded without reaching their destination.
