The UK Intelligence services have highlighted on Monday that Russian forces »expend significant resources to achieve minimal advances» in the framework of their offensives in the Ukrainian region of Donetsk, located in the east of the country and the epicenter of the fighting during the last months.
»Russia continues to give a high priority to sending resources to operations in the Donetsk wide sector, including the Marinka and Avdiivka areas, spending significant resources for minimal advances,» they said.
Thus, they have specified that »during the last seven days, Russia has probably increased its armored assaults around Marinka, 20 kilometers southwest of Donetsk city», according to a series of messages published by the British Ministry of Defense through its account on the social network Twitter.
»Marinka has been the scene of fighting since 2014 and has been largely destroyed by exchanges of artillery fire,» they said, before noting that it is of strategic importance due to its proximity to Donetsk and the H15 road, relevant for the shipment of supplies.
