The U.S. Treasury Department, in cooperation with the State Department, has expanded its ‘blacklist’ with 14 additional Russian nationals and 28 Russian companies for their ties to the Kremlin and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the context of the war in Ukraine.

As detailed by the Treasury in a statement, with this new round of sanctions, Washington seeks to target an entire «transnational network dedicated to the acquisition of technologies in support of the Russian military-industrial complex».

Likewise, the United States has remarked that the ‘blacklist’ now includes «a global network of financial intermediaries and other individuals associated with two elites linked to the Kremlin» and whose fortunes are «intertwined with the West».

Among those sanctioned are the closest relatives of Russian Senator Suleiman Kerimov and the companies associated with the family, mainly Emperor Aviation. It has also blacklisted eight aircraft associated with the organization.

Washington has also imposed sanctions on two Swiss companies associated with Russian businessman Andrei Guriev. Russian tycoon Murat Aliyev and his companies have also been included in this list.
