Dani Alvés asks for a new statement before the judge on the verge of serving three months in prison
After more than two months in prison, Dani Alves will return to testify before the judge at the request of the defense. According to Cadena Ser, the former soccer player would like to give a new version of events after having already changed it several times. It will be next Monday, April 17, when we will hear a new version of what happened in a well-known nightclub in Barcelona where Alves was accused of raping a 23-year-old girl.
Judge’s approval
Although the judicial investigation is practically closed, the judge has given her approval setting the statement for next Monday, when Alves will serve almost three months in custody for what happened.
Changed the statement
Although at first the soccer player denied the facts, implying that he did not know the victim; minutes later, when questioned by another party, he said that he did know her, but that there was no aggression, but that on the night of the incident, he went into the bathroom to relieve himself and the young woman jumped on him.
A third version
In that same statement, the soccer player ended up supporting a third version: he acknowledged that there was oral sex, but insisted that it was consensual. Alves added that with his refusal to admit the facts, he intended to «protect» the young woman.
The victim has not changed her statement
Unlike Alves, the victim has stood firm from the beginning without changing her statement. According to the young woman, the soccer player locked her in a bathroom of the Sutton nightclub and sexually assaulted her against her will.
