At least five people have died and ten others are missing in a landslide in the Peruvian city of Huaral, 75 kilometers from the country’s capital, Lima.
The Disaster Risk Management agency has informed the newspaper ‘La Republica’ about the death toll, while indicating that at least 15 houses are buried.
The local authorities, who have activated a provincial emergency operations center in which the Peruvian Army has been participating, will resume the rescue work, after the Andean emergency services have had their work suspended due to the heavy rains.
Likewise, they have recommended to people living in areas declared in imminent danger, as well as to transporters and travelers, that they do so »with the prudence required, since the onslaught of nature has been greatly affecting this sector».
They have also alerted, after coordination with all the public institutions involved, of the damages and material losses caused by the incident, since at least one school has been buried.
