
The German Federal Prosecutor’s Office reported Monday the arrest of an alleged agent of the Moroccan secret services in the Cologne region.
The suspect has already been brought before an investigating judge and has been remanded in custody, the Karlsruhe branch of the public prosecutor’s office said.
He is accused of having engaged with the Moroccan secret services to spy on the protest movements of Moroccans living in Germany at an unspecified date between April 2021 and March 2022. He would have confessed to having passed on information to at least one person.
The detainee is of Moroccan nationality, but his age has not been disclosed. His home has also been searched, according to information from the Prosecutor’s Office.
