Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Monday addressed the Russian Army’s military capabilities as the invasion of Ukraine progresses and said it is a »priority» for the country’s Armed Forces.
During a meeting in the Kremlin, the Russian president stressed the importance of improving the reaction capacity and the Russian fleets deployed in the Pacific area, according to information from the Russian Presidency.
It is clear that we have our priorities in relation to the Armed Forces and that they are linked to Ukraine and the protection of our people in the Donbas and other recently annexed territories,» Putin said.
He also addressed the surprise inspections of the fleet in the Pacific and assured that it can be used »in the framework of armed conflicts». »These forces can be used in all directions. I ask to keep this in mind,» he said.
Shoigu, for his part, clarified that more than 25,000 troops, 160 ships and 12 submarines are part of the fleet, whose capabilities have been put to the test during the last week.
