Real Madrid responds with a video to Joan Laporta for considering it «the team of the regime».
Real Madrid responded to the words of FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta on Monday, in which he accused the club of being «historically considered the team of the regime», and did so through a video on social networks where he reminded the club of the reclassifications obtained by Francisco Franco, the decorations awarded by the azulgrana club and the number of titles it won during that period.
Laporta’s accusations against Real Madrid
«There is a club that has gone it alone and says it feels it has been wronged in sporting terms; Real Madrid. A club that has been favored historically and currently by arbitration decisions, for whatever reasons. A club historically considered the team of the regime in power because of its proximity to political, economic and sporting power,» Laporta lashed out during his appearance before the media to give explanations for the ‘Negreira case’.
Real Madrid’s response
The Madrid response did not arrive until Monday night and it was through social networks and a video where after putting this moment of the speech of the leader ‘culé’ launches the question ‘What was the team of the regime?’.
Francisco Franco
From there, Real Madrid highlights facts such as the fact that Camp Nou was inaugurated by José Solís Ruiz, Franco’s General Minister, that the Catalan club awarded the General its gold and brilliant insignia, decorated him three times and named him honorary member in 1965.
Saved by Franco three times
In addition, he highlights that FC Barcelona «was saved by Franco three times from bankruptcy with three re-qualifications» and that it won «eight Ligas and nine Copas del Generalísimo» at that time, while Real Madrid «took 15 years» to win a league title.
Real Madrid, dismantled during the Spanish Civil War
He also points out that the Madrid team was «dismantled» during the Civil War with «players murdered, exiled or arrested», adding a piece from the documentary about Santiago Bernabéu in this sense and the words of the Madrid leader about what he thought when they said they were the team of the regime: «When I hear that Madrid has been the team of the regime it makes me want to shit on the father of the person who says it». The video ends with the question: ‘Which team is the team of the regime?
