The United States announced Wednesday a new military assistance package for Kiev valued at $300 million (€271 million) that includes ammunition for U.S. HIMARS multiple rocket launcher systems.
»This latest package will help Ukraine continue to bravely defend itself in the face of Russia’s brutal, unprovoked and unjustified war, which could end its war today. Until it does, the United States and our allies and partners will stand united with Ukraine, for as long as it takes,» Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
Specifically, the Biden Administration has authorized the 37th withdrawal of equipment from Department of Defense inventories, a package that, in addition to ammunition for HIMARS, includes 155-millimeter howitzers, as well as artillery rounds, also of the same caliber.
The list also includes optically tracked missiles, AT-4 and Carl Gustaf anti-armor systems, as well as Hydra-70 rockets, small arms, trucks and trailers for heavy military equipment and obstacle ordnance, among others.
»The United States will continue to work with its allies and partners to provide Ukraine with the capability to meet its immediate battlefield needs and long-term security assistance requirements,» the Pentagon said in a statement.
