Kherson Governor Oleksander Prokudin reported on Thursday that 23 people were killed after Russian shelling of the region on Wednesday, injuring nearly half a hundred more.
»Over the past day, the enemy has carried out 98 shellings, firing 539 shells of heavy artillery, Grads, tanks, UAVs and aviation,» Prokudin listed on his Telegram account.
»The enemy has shelled the city of Kherson 16 times. As a result of this aggression, 23 people have been killed and 46 wounded,» he added, stressing that the Russian troops targeted residential neighborhoods and populated areas of the region.
»The city of Kherson has been shelled with particular cruelty,» affecting, he detailed, several civilian infrastructures, commercial establishments, transport facilities and a factory. »My sincere condolences to the families of the deceased (…) These bastards will be punished!», he expressed.
Russian forces have intensified their operations against the Kherson region, from which it is speculated that it could be the scene of the beginning of the much-announced Ukrainian counteroffensive. For the time being, the authorities of the region will impose a curfew from this Friday, which will last all weekend.
