U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will address her plans for the future this Thursday, her chief of staff detailed in a social media post.

After the Republican Party took the majority in the US Lower House, Pelosi will have to step down as Speaker to be succeeded by Republican Kevin McCarthy, although so far she has not confirmed what her next steps in politics will be.

«Pelosi has been overwhelmed by calls from colleagues, friends and supporters. Tonight, the Speaker has been closely following the final results in the three remaining critical states. The Speaker plans to address her future plans tomorrow with her colleagues,» Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill asserted on Twitter.

The message comes just hours after the Republican candidate to succeed Pelosi has assured that the Republican Party has «fired» her from the floor.

«Tonight it’s official: the Democrats’ one-party rule is over. We have fired Nancy Pelosi,» McCarthy reiterated in statements to FOX News shortly after his party won the 218th seat, which gives Republicans control of the House of Representatives.

However, Pelosi said on the day of the mid-term legislative elections that the recent assault on her husband will affect her decision on her political future.

In an interview with CNN, Pelosi indicated that the attack on Paul Pelosi while he was at his private home in San Francisco has raised new concerns about the threats of political violence in the country, which will affect the decision on the Democratic Party’s policy.

Asked if she had made a decision on what she would do in the future, with emphasis on the case that the Republicans regain power in the House of Representatives, Pelosi confessed that «there has been a lot of discussion» about whether she would retire if the Democrats lose the Lower House.

If Pelosi steps down from House leadership, many Democrats expect her to finish her term and possibly return next year to the party’s rank and file, as she might consider the perfect time to step down altogether, Democratic Party sources have told ‘The Washington Post’.
