The Swedish prosecutor investigating the alleged sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea has ordered the opening of an additional investigation into this case «at the scene of the crime», in which the Armed Forces will collaborate.

Both the Swedish and Danish authorities have concluded in their preliminary analyses that there were powerful explosions prior to the four methane gas leaks in the pipelines, but so far there is no official indication of possible perpetrators.

Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist and the police have requested the «help» of the Armed Forces to try to clarify what, for now, is considered «serious sabotage». The army has the necessary resources and experience to reinforce the investigations «in the way we want,» Ljungqvist emphasized in a statement, without going into further details.

The prosecutor has applauded the collaboration between institutions and also between the different countries involved in this case and, although he understands that there is a «great interest», he has appealed to calm and discretion to let the experts work.
