Some thirty ministers from the previous governments of former President Evo Morales have closed ranks this Monday around his leadership and have criticized those from the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) who use «the false discourse» of renovation to reduce the political weight of the former president.
The document signed by up to 36 former ministers denounces that «the coup right wing» has «infiltrated» some sectors of MAS to attack the fourteen years of Morales’ government, the «most important» period in terms of social transformations since the founding of the country.
In this sense, he warned that through «right-wing ideological expressions» and using the «false discourse of ‘renovation'», these sectors are «deliberately and systematically» attacking the «anti-colonial and anti-imperialist» leadership represented by former President Morales.
«These embedded sectors have initiated attacks and questionings against the organic leadership of the MAS and the political and ideological leadership of our leader, going as far as betrayal» and all to «reduce the political presence, the moral strength and the ideological orientation of our brother Evo», they denounce.
«We cannot accept that some authorities with MAS representation in the Plurinational Legislative Assembly, the Executive Branch and other levels of representation are permissive, accomplices of this new project of the right wing to divide and proscribe our political movement and try to destroy the leadership of Evo Morales», have deepened this group of former ministers.
The letter, which highlights «the strategy» and «the leadership» of Morales as some of the reasons that would explain the electoral success of MAS in 2020, ends with a call to all the militancy and voters of the party to defend both Morales and the political process that made him the «first indigenous president» of the country.
