Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated on Monday before NATO member countries his request to declare Russia a state sponsor of terrorism, predicting that such a «result» will be reached gradually.
«Today I called on all parliaments of NATO member states to finally pass a decision on recognizing Russia as a terrorist state. I believe that we will gradually reach this result,» the head of state said in his daily message to the Ukrainian population.
Zelensky maintained that Russia will be perceived in the world as a state sponsor of terrorism, since that is «exactly what it has become: a terrorist state».
In this regard, he called on the Atlantic Alliance countries to take «specific measures» to implement the peace formula proposed by his Executive for Ukraine, assuring that it «can reliably guarantee» peace and justice for his country and the entire Euro-Atlantic community.
All in all, Zelenski has commemorated the ninth anniversary of the beginning of the Euromaidan, the demonstrations and riots that took place in the country in 2013 and in which thousands of people called for an association of Ukraine with the European Union, leading to the resignation of the then president Viktor Yanukovych, of the pro-Russian Party of Regions formation.
«Today is the ninth anniversary of the beginning of Maidan, the Revolution of Dignity (…) There were many threats to the freedom of our people and the very existence of Ukrainians. But the people overcame it. And now you and I have a historic opportunity to defend the Ukrainian will once and for all,» he said in his evening speech.
