Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba has responded to reports of a possible return to the negotiating table with Russia and stressed that only Kiev will determine «when and how» to start talks with Moscow.
«Recently there has been a lot of speculation in the media about negotiations with Russia (…) Only Ukraine will determine when and how to negotiate with the aggressor. There will be no agreements on Ukraine without Ukraine,» Kuleba said.
Thus, the representative of the Ukrainian diplomacy remarked that the president of the country, Volodymyr Zelensky, already detailed at the recent G20 summit the necessary requirements for returning to the negotiating table.
«Only real actions of Russia, such as cessation of terrorist attacks on the Ukrainian infrastructure, withdrawal of troops from the Ukrainian territory or release of all prisoners and deportees can open the way to peace,» Kuleba said.
Thus, he regretted that the Russian authorities do not seem to be in favor of moving in this direction, thus demonstrating that they are not committed to the end of the conflict despite, he said, having suffered significant defeats on the front.
