Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that the country is ready to expand its fertilizer exports and cooperate with «absolutely» all countries in the area despite the continuing invasion of Ukraine.

«We are ready to expand our work with everyone, without exceptions,» he has asserted during a meeting with Dimitri Mazepin, head of the commission of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on fertilizers.

In this regard, he stressed that the situation in the fertilizer market «is very well known, even to non-specialists». He pointed out that Uralchem, the Russian chemical manufacturer, «is one of the largest fertilizer producing companies», as reported by the Interfax news agency.

«I know that the work is being carried out successfully despite the artificial obstacles created by some countries,» said the president, who also defended that he supports Uralchem’s idea of asking the UN and the African Union to unblock those fertilizers that are in European ports.

Mazepin himself has proposed to address these international organizations, an issue that has been approved by Putin. «You know that we are in contact with UN Genreal Secretary António Guterres and other relevant structures. Therefore, appropriate guidelines will be given when the time comes,» he stressed.

«I have been in direct contact with the leaders of several African countries to address the issue, but they do not understand what is happening because there is talk of helping the poorest countries,» he lamented.
