Colombian authorities announced Wednesday night that the two soldiers kidnapped by dissidents of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) on November 22 in the town of Briceño, in the northern region of Antioquia, have been released.
«They were released in the village of Palmichal, municipality of Briceño, Antioquia, after being physically and psychologically assaulted and mistreated while they were kidnapped», explained General Juan Carlos Fajardo González, commander of the Fourth Brigade of the Colombian Army, in declarations reported by the newspaper ‘Semana’.
The kidnapping, of Corporal Duván Arley Prado Moreno and Private Fabián Andrés Zambrano Hurtado, took place while the soldiers were carrying out an operation against a FARC dissident group.
«This situation has been placed at the disposition of the Attorney General’s Office so that it can formulate the corresponding charges against those responsible, who have already been duly identified and identified», added Fajardo Gonzalez.
