The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure has confirmed that it has started the evacuation of civilians from Kherson on Friday, when 100 people left by train for Khmelnitsky, including 26 children, seven sick people and six people with reduced mobility.
Zelenski’s Executive portfolio has conveyed that an allowance of at least 2,000 grivnas (52 euros) will be allocated and they will get a certificate of internally displaced persons. In addition, they will receive humanitarian aid and accommodation, the government has detailed in a Telegram message.
It has also reminded that it is currently possible to move to the cities of Odessa, Mikolaiv and Krivii Roh via bus lines, where they will be placed in «specially equipped shelters» and transported in wagons to the safest regions of Ukraine.
The Russian troops which had occupied the region since March withdrew in mid-November under pressure of a Ukrainian counter-attack, however they maintain positions on the banks of the Dnieper river, from where they launch artillery.
Likewise, the situation generated by the severe damage caused to the energy infrastructure has caused the Ukrainian government to also encourage the abandonment of the most affected areas due to the difficulty in coping with the cold.
