A former security minister and former Paraguayan anti-drug prosecutor, Javier Ibarra, has been found dead inside his home with two shots in the head, according to the police, who are investigating with the hypothesis of homicide, although suicide has not been ruled out.
The autopsy carried out this Friday confirms that Ibarra died as a result of the two bullet impacts of 22 caliber or similar. According to the police spokesman, the body was found in the kitchen while the weapons were elsewhere. However, the locks do not appear to have been forced.
He has also detailed that it is a «complex» investigation that «will continue to report». His body was found by a neighbor and there were no previous complaints of threats, according to Paraguayan newspaper ‘Última Hora’.
The investigators start from the hypothesis of suicide, although «they cannot rule out anything». «We have no disorder, there are no traces of violence. The involvement of an acquaintance is not ruled out,» said the prosecutor.
Already in 2016 Ibarra denounced that several unknown persons forced his vehicle to take three weapons that belonged to the police and accused the former anti-drug chief of waging a campaign of impeachment against him, according to Infobae.
