Emergency services located early Monday the body of a man missing in a landslide on the Italian island of Ischia, bringing the death toll to eight dead and five missing.
Firefighters have confirmed on social networks the discovery of a body in Casamicciola and, according to sources quoted by public broadcaster Rai, it is a man who was on the list of those missing from Saturday’s events. Among the deceased there is also a 21-day-old baby.
The search services have been working throughout the night in the affected areas, to which more than 200 people have not been able to return, according to the most recent count of displaced persons.
The Italian authorities have decreed a state of emergency for Ischia, as well as an allocation of two million euros to help the affected region.
