The speaker of the Verkhovna Rada – Ukraine’s parliament – Ruslan Stefanchuk, has reported receiving messages from an impostor, allegedly linked to Russia, posing as the president of the Polish Senate, Tomasz Grodzky.
«The other day Russian henchmen, it is hard to even call them ‘special services’, started writing to me on behalf of my friend, and friend of Ukraine, the chairman of the Senate of Poland, Tomasz Grodzky,» Stefanchuk has reported.
However, Stefanchuk acknowledged that he has direct contact with the leaders of many countries, so after receiving these fake messages, he and Grodzky could only «laugh at the attempts of Russian pranksters».
The Ukrainian representative warned that Russia’s attempts to impersonate international authorities in order to extract information is already becoming «epidemic» which, he said, «the world needs to know about».
Finally, Stefanchuk denounced that this type of deception is part of the «hybrid war» and of the «miserable propaganda» that Russia has been carrying out since February, when it started the war against Ukraine.
