A delegation from the Polish Parliament arrived in Taiwan on Monday in the midst of rising tensions with China and after the visit of British MPs once again raised hackles and criticism from Beijing.
The Taiwanese Foreign Ministry has confirmed the arrival of the delegation, headed by Waldemar Andzel and consisting of a total of eight Polish members, and said the visit will last five days, according to the CNA news agency.
The delegation is scheduled to visit the Legislative Yuan, the Taiwanese Parliament, the Mainland Affairs Council – the government’s administrative agency – and the National Development Council.
They will also attend a reception in honor of the island’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, who will receive a medal for his role in strengthening bilateral relations in recent years.
