Ukrainian state-owned electricity operator Ukrenergo reported Monday that the country has recorded a new widespread power outage amid a situation that «remains complicated» for the population in the midst of Russia’s invasion of the territory.
«The situation in the energy system is difficult. There are still supply cuts and daily power consumption is limited by all power companies at the regional level,» the company explained in a Telegram message picked up by Ukrinform news agency.
Between December 3 and 4, it stressed, there was an increase in supply, which made it possible to reduce blackouts to a minimum. Today, however, Ukrenergo’s control center has recorded a decrease in this consumption.
Thus, he pointed out that this increase in consumption is related to the start of the weekly works that are being carried out in a large part of the country as temperatures drop.
During the nine months of war, the company’s specialists have warned that emergency work has been carried out on 45 power installations of different voltage damaged by the attacks.
