The Moldovan Border Police on Monday discovered a fallen missile in the north of the country, near the border with Ukraine, in the midst of Russia’s invasion of the territory and several weeks after a missile fell in Poland.
The security forces, which have indicated that the object «was found by the border patrol in the garden of a house», explained in a statement that the discovery took place in the town of Briceni. The border service has proceeded to cordon off the area where the missile was found pending further action.
Moldova’s Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita assured that the authorities are doing «everything possible to keep the situation under control». «I was informed recently that a Police patrol discovered the remains of a rocket near the town of Briceni. Patrols have been intensified and the alert level raised in Briceni and Ocnita,» he said via Twitter.
Last November 15, two people were killed after a projectile fell on Polish soil, although the government has pointed out that there is no «hard evidence» as to who launched it.
However, everything points to the fact that the missile in question was launched by Ukrainian forces, which initially accused the Russian Army.
