A missile launched on Monday by Ukrainian forces has fallen in the Moldovan district of Ocnita, near the common border, with no casualties but some material damage, mainly due to the destruction of several windows in houses.
The projectile hit north of the locality of Naslavcea, next to the river that delimits the territory between Ukraine and Moldova. The Moldovan Interior Ministry confirmed in a statement that the area has been cordoned off to avoid possible risks.
The Ukrainian authorities have explained to the neighboring country that they fired the missile in response to a drone attack on a dam. The attack did not cause damage to this infrastructure, but to the electrical transformers that allow the correct functioning of the facilities, according to the Moldovan government.
The Moldovan Defense Ministry had already denounced this month that several Russian aircraft had violated the airspace, allegedly also during a series of operations in the area.
