The Mexican Police have reported the death of a two-year-old boy who lost his life after being shot during the celebration of a patron saint festival in the central Mexican town of Toluca.
According to the latest report from the Security Secretariat of the State of Mexico (SSEM), the child was with his grandmother in the street in front of their house, watching the fireworks on the occasion of the patron saint festival, when a bullet hit the child, as reported by ‘Milenio’.
«Suddenly they heard gunshots, and immediately their grandson fell fainted bleeding, which is why he was taken to the hospital,» the statement released by the SSEM, citing the statements of the child’s grandmother.
After the bullet impact, the two-year-old boy was taken to a nearby hospital. However, once at the medical center, the medical staff confirmed that the child had died.
The main hypothesis of the event is that in a fight a stray bullet had hit the child, although the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico has not closed other lines of investigation. So far no one has been arrested and the police are continuing their investigations.
