U.S. actress Kirstie Alley died Monday at age 71 after suffering from a recently diagnosed cancer, her family said.
«To all our friends, far and wide: We are saddened to inform you that our amazing, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, recently discovered,» wields a statement released by the children of the actress on social networks.
«She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great fortitude, leaving us with certainty of her endless joie de vivre and the adventures ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was even a better mother and grandmother,» her relatives have stated.
Alley, a Golden Globe and Emmy winner for her role on ‘Cheers,’ won a second Emmy in 1994 for her role as Sally Goodson in «David’s Mother.» The actress is also known for her performance on ‘Look Who’s Talking’.
In addition, her roles in many other films and series over the years include ‘Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kha’ and ‘Dancing With the Stars’.
