Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has announced to Twitter employees that he ultimately does not plan to cut nearly 75 percent of the social network’s staff if he eventually takes control of the social network, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.
After last week the tycoon announced to the social network’s investors his plans to cut three-quarters of the workforce, Musk told the company’s workers during a visit to its headquarters in San Francisco that such a cut is not part of his plans.
However, Twitter already expected to lay off part of its team due to economic factors, which would have generated stress among workers.
However, a job cut would not only affect workers, but also the company’s infrastructure and the data centers that enable the social network to operate.
Therefore, the decision could affect the millions of users of the social network, as they could be at risk of possible hacks and be more exposed to offensive material, according to experts consulted by the agency.
Musk has until this Friday to close the acquisition of Twitter if he wants to avoid going to trial with the company, after which the entrepreneur and engineer expressed his intention to adhere to the original agreement to buy Twitter for 54.20 dollars per share, which would imply a total of 44,000 million dollars (44,880 million euros).
