At least ten people have been killed and thirteen others injured in Baghdad after a tanker carrying gas exploded while parked in a garage in the Al Qajira neighborhood in the northern part of the Iraqi capital.
Badgad operations commander Lieutenant General Ahmed Salim Bahjat told the Shafaq news portal that when it exploded it dispersed materials into a nearby soccer stadium where a large crowd was gathered.
However, he did not clarify the causes behind this event and stated that «forensic experts will present their report soon». Although, the same media quoted a security source as saying that an explosive device attached to a vehicle that was also parked was set off.
However, the INA news agency reports that a member of the Iraqi Security Media Cell has assured that the information gathered so far «shows that there was a technical defect and it is not a terrorist attack».
