This Sunday at 8:00 a.m., the polls opened for the second round of the Brazilian presidential elections, which pit the current president, Jair Bolsonaro, against former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

«The big day has arrived! Brazilians are now voting for the final decision on the Presidency of the Republic and twelve state governments. Each person’s participation in the vote can be decisive. Do not forget to exercise your vote again,» reminded the Supreme Electoral Court in a message on Twitter posted at the opening hour Also the Minister of the Supreme Electoral Court, Alexandre de Moraes, has encouraged to vote. «Electors and electors. An optimal election Sunday. With a lot of peace, security, awareness and hope,» he posted on Twitter.

This Sunday’s second round will not only determine who will be the new president and vice-president, since the governors of twelve Brazilian states, including important political places such as Sao Paulo, are still to be decided.

In the first round, Brazilians also completely chose the composition of the Chamber of Deputies and part of the Senate, with a predominantly conservative legislature where Bolsonaro’s party, the Liberal Party (PL), was the most voted option.
