U.S. officials confirmed Tuesday that, while they are concerned about the possible supply of Iranian missiles to Russia, they have no evidence that this is occurring.
This has been acknowledged by the coordinator of strategic communication of the National Security Council of the United States, John Kirby, who has stressed that the Iranian government is taking part in favor of Russia in the war in Ukraine.
«We remain concerned about the possible supply of surface-to-surface missiles to Russia (by Iran). So far we have not seen confirmation of this, but we are concerned,» Kirby told a press conference.
At this point, the White House official remarked that Iran does supply drones to the Russian Armed Forces, which certifies Tehran’s support to Moscow for «killing Ukrainians», Ukrinform reports.
He also recalled that, according to the United States, Iran has sent instructors and technical personnel to the Crimean peninsula – annexed by Russia in 2014 – to train Russian troops in the use of drones.
Allegations of Iran’s alleged supply of unmanned aerial vehicles to Russia have gained momentum in recent weeks as Kiev warns that the Russian Army is using them to attack the Ukrainian population and civilian infrastructure.
