Tycoon Elon Musk has called for a vote for the Republican Party in Tuesday’s congressional elections, arguing that this will allow Congress to serve as a counterweight to a White House currently dominated by a Democratic leader, Joe Biden.

«Shared power contains the worst excesses of both parties, so I recommend voting for a Republican Congress,» Musk posted on Twitter, the social network that he recently acquired and uses as the main speaker for his messages.

His message is aimed at voters considered «independents», since he understands that «hard-line» Democrats or Republicans will never change the direction of the vote. Musk believes that it is the independents «who actually decide who is in charge.»

The entrepreneur has received praise in recent weeks from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has applauded Musk’s purchase of Twitter. According to Trump, who has created his own social network after being expelled from Twitter, the company is now in the hands of a «sane» person.
