Ukrainian state operator Ukrenergo on Monday announced power outages in seven regions of the country, including the capital, for the third consecutive day, all due to Russia’s destruction of energy infrastructure with missiles and drones.

The cuts will affect Kiev region, Kiev capital, Kiev, Chernigov, Cherkasi, Yitomir, Sumy, Kharkov and Poltava, according to Ukrenergo’s statement posted on its Telegram channel.

«The country’s power grid still cannot resume full operation after the Russian terrorist attacks. In some regions, we have to introduce blackouts to avoid overloading the high-voltage infrastructure,» the company has detailed in its message.

It also recalled that there will be «emergency shutdowns» in certain areas of the country if necessary, stressing that if such a situation arises, electricity could disappear earlier than expected and consumption restrictions could last longer.

«Power companies do everything possible to reduce the number and duration of outages, we repair networks without shutdowns and on weekends. We look forward to your understanding and help,» Ukrenergo reiterated.
