Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski will participate in the G20 leaders’ summit to be hosted by Indonesia next week, a spokesman for his office has said, with no official confirmation of the members of the Russian delegation so far.
The spokesman, Sergei Nikiforov, assured public television that Zelenski will «probably» participate telematically. It is not for nothing that the Ukrainian president has not made any trip abroad since his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, ordered in February the beginning of the military offensive.
Zelenski warned last week that he would not participate in the Bali summit in any case if Putin, who is also on the guest list, attended. The Kremlin has promised to clarify this week the level of the Russian delegation, a G20 member country.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo has acknowledged to the Financial Times that he has a «strong feeling» that Putin will be absent, which has not been confirmed by either the host or the invited party. The Indonesian government has limited itself to announcing the attendance of at least 17 heads of state and government, among them the American Joe Biden.
