The Democratic Party has appealed to its voters to stay in the voting lines even if polling station closing time arrives in an attempt to scrape up the most votes late in the afternoon.

At a time when polling stations in US East Coast states are already closing, Democratic leaders such as US President Joe Biden or his ‘number two’, Kamala Harris, have urged to stay at the polling station until the last minute.

«As polls begin to close in certain parts of the country, if you are in line at your polling place before it closes, stay in line,» Biden has asserted in a message on his Twitter account. «Make your voice heard,» he added.

For her part, the vice president of the U.S. government, Kamala Harris, has made a similar appeal to Biden.

«If you are in line before the polls close: stay in line,» Harris has also asserted on her Twitter account.

A high turnout could be decisive for the Democrats because groups such as Hispanics, the black community or young people, more likely to vote for the Democratic Party, are also those who have higher abstention rates.
