The current Republican minority leader in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, has expressed optimism about the results of the U.S. midterm elections for his party’s possible victory in the lower house.
McCarthy, who aspires to preside over the body in the event that the Republican Party reverses the Democratic majority, as predicted by the polls, has been observing the results at the headquarters of the National Republican Congressional Committee in Washington DC, according to what his advisors have communicated to the CNN television network.
The aides have indicated that McCarthy has been corroborating the data «from the ground», while he has been in contact with the candidates who have won.
In this sense, the leader of the Republicans in the Lower House assures that these trends point to a Republican takeover of the body.
