Democrat Maxwell Frost will be the first member of Generation Z, born after 1996, to hold a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, following Tuesday’s U.S. midterm congressional elections.
Frost is a community organizer who will become a congressman for Florida’s 10th District after defeating Republican Calvin Wimbish.
The already-winner has become the youngest congressman to be elected, as House members must be at least 25 years old to be eligible for election.
Thus, Frost has gained the support of young people during his campaign, which he has formulated through social networks and several public interviews. In addition, he has had the public support of prominent progressives such as Senator Bernie Sanders, of Vermont; and Senator Elizabeth Warren, of Massachusetts.
