The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has assured that Democratic candidates for the body in the mid-term congressional elections are exceeding expectations across the country.
«It is clear that members of the House of Representatives and Democratic candidates are far exceeding expectations across the country,» Pelosi said in a statement on the provisional results of Tuesday’s election day, in which there are close races, so it has not been finalized who the winners of both chambers are.
«As states continue to tabulate final results, every vote should be counted as cast. Many thanks to our grassroots volunteers for allowing every voter to have their say in our democracy,» he added, as reported by U.S. television network CNN.
The House of Representatives and the Senate, where Democrats currently hold a narrow majority, are up for grabs in these legislative elections, as they are narrowly divided.
