The Taliban on Thursday lamented that the recent images of Pakistan Police arresting and roping Afghan refugees in the city of Karachi are a «provocation» and are «detrimental to both countries.»
This is what the fundamentalist-controlled Afghan Foreign Ministry has told the chargé d’affaires of the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul, Obaidur Rahman Nizamani, reports Tolo News.
The Foreign Ministry’s deputy spokesman, Hafiz Zia Ahmed, condemned the images of Afghan refugees being «disturbed» and called on the Pakistani government to prevent the recurrence of such actions.
In recent days, images of Afghan nationals claiming to have been raped and even robbed by Pakistani agents have been widely seen on social media. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency, more than 1.3 million Afghans reside in Pakistan.
For several years, the Pakistani authorities have been accused of using Afghan refugees and citizens in the country as a weapon to put pressure on Afghanistan in order to achieve their interests.
