
South Korea has updated the death toll from the Itaweon crowd in Seoul’s Itaweon neighborhood on Monday, putting the number of people killed in the event at 158.
The Security and Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters said the additional victim is a 20-year-old South Korean woman, according to the country’s Yonhap news agency.
In total, 132 South Koreans and 26 foreigners died during the Oct. 29 stampede. Authorities have reported that 130 South Koreans have been identified, while the bodies of 24 foreign nationals have been repatriated to their home countries.
In addition, of the 196 people injured, a dozen are still being treated in hospitals.
