Canada’s Defense Ministry has announced that it will provide the Government of Ukraine with an additional US$33 (about 23 million euros) in military aid to the country to deal with Russian forces in the context of the invasion of the territory.

In a statement, Ottawa said that 3.6 million euros will be provided for the purchase of satellites for battlefield imaging, 13 million euros for high-resolution cameras and another 7 million euros for the purchase of military equipment to cope with low temperatures in winter.

«Canada remains committed to Ukraine so that the country can defend itself against (Vladimir) Putin’s unjustifiable and illegal invasion. Today’s announcement addresses the urgent needs of the country as it moves forward to reclaim its territory,» said Defence Minister Anita Anand.

She noted that «Canada’s military contributions have been instrumental in carrying out counter-attack efforts». «We will continue to work with Ukraine in the short and long term,» she added.

In this regard, he stressed that the aid package was made taking into account Kiev’s specific requests. Since the invasion began, Canada has delivered more than 700 million euros in assistance to Ukraine.
