Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has predicted on Saturday the end of the «evil» behind the recent protests unleashed after the death of young Mahsa Amini after she was arrested for wearing the veil incorrectly.
Khamenei has assured that the people are «informed» of everything that is really happening, so the revolts «are doomed to failure,» according to the Iranian news agency IRNA.
Khamenei visited this Saturday the province of Isfahan, in the center of the country, and met with different social representatives. From there he denounced the «incidents, crimes and sabotage» that «create problems for people and businesses». «Those who are behind this evil do not have the capacity to harm the Islamic system,» he stressed.
«These evils will undoubtedly have an end and the Iranian nation will continue to move forward on the path of progress with more strength and a fresher spirit,» he has assured.
Those responsible for these riots will be prosecuted and those who have received money in exchange for these crimes will be tracked down, he added.
Thus, Khamenei recalled the «martyrs of Isfahan», the 370 Iranians killed in 1982 in an Iraqi attack during the 1980-88 war, and stressed that Iran was able to defeat Iraq despite the fact that the neighboring country had much better weapons.
«The problem that arrogant powers have with the Islamic Republic of Iran is because if the Islamic Republic advances, flourishes and shines in the world, the logic of the Western world, of liberal democracy, will be refuted,» he has argued.
Khamenei has reproached the West for having «plundered the world for more than two centuries under the logic of liberal democracy.» «They said that there was no democracy here, that there was no freedom there and they entered these countries, plundered the wealth, treasures and resources of these countries under the pretext of implementing democracy,» he said.
«Europe, which was poor, became rich at the cost of destroying many rich countries like India and China. Iran was not directly colonized, but they also did what they wanted here,» he lamented.
As a recent example he has cited Afghanistan and the «crimes committed for 20 years». «The same government they were fighting against at the beginning has ended up ruling Afghanistan. They have handed the country over to them and have left in a regrettable way,» he said.
At least 342 people have died, including at least 43 minors and 26 women, during the wave of repression by the authorities against demonstrators over the death in custody of young Mahsa Amini, allegedly for wearing the Islamic veil incorrectly, according to the latest balance of the NGO Iran Human Rights.
