The spokeswoman for the Presidency of Argentina, Gabriela Cerruti, informed this Saturday that President Alberto Fernandez has undergone an endoscopy due to the erosive gastritis he has been suffering from for years and which forced him to leave the G20 summit last Tuesday during the meeting with the President of Spain, Pedro Sanchez.

«Mr. President of the Nation, Alberto Angel Fernandez, has undergone endoscopic controls on this day. No lesions with active bleeding were found. He is advised to rest and to gradually resume his work activities. I will keep the public opinion informed of the medical evolution of the President’s health», reads the statement signed by the Presidential Medical Unit.

The Argentine president had an indisposition last Tuesday during the summit of heads of state and government of the G20 held in Bali. Fernandez suffered from hypotension and dizziness during a meeting with the Spanish President, Pedro Sanchez, according to Telesur.

Consequently, after meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, he had to suspend the rest of his agenda due to health reasons.

However, Fernandez plans to attend next week the Pacific Alliance summit to discuss the integration of Latin America, according to the same source.
