At least eight people have died and nearly 600 have been infected by the dengue outbreak that broke out late last month with its epicenter in North Kordofan state, in the center of the country.
State Health Minister Ibrahim al Ansari has specifically estimated the number of confirmed cases of infection at 599 and suspected patients at 1,076.
In a statement reported by the ‘Sudan Tribune’, the minister also estimated that 92 patients are currently hospitalized in isolation and urgently requested blood donations.
However, Al Ibrahim assured that the situation, in general terms, is «under control» and highlighted the coordination with all health authorities to combat the vector of the disease.
