Authorities in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, reported Wednesday that at least one person has been killed and another injured by new shelling carried out by Russian forces, which has caused power outages and cuts in drinking water supply in several districts of the city.

Andrii Nebitov, the head of the police of the aforementioned locality, has indicated that a two-storey residential building has been hit by missiles in Vishgorod, in the Kiev region, he said on his Telegram account.

«Missile attack on the Kiev region. A fire has been recorded in a residential building after being hit by one of these missiles,» he explained before noting that the Police are already working at the scene.

Oleksii Kuleba, spokesman for the local authorities, warned that Russia had attacked vital infrastructure as well as the «residential sector» of the city, and said that there was a danger that such attacks could be repeated.

Earlier, Vitali Klitschko, mayor of Kiev, denounced new attacks in the framework of the Russian invasion and urged the population to «stay in shelters» as anti-aircraft sirens are activated. He also confirmed that several «civilian infrastructures» in the capital have been affected.

On the other hand, the attacks carried out during the day have left the city of Lviv, located in western Ukraine and close to the Polish border, without electricity supply.

The mayor, Andrii Sadovi, confirmed that «the whole city is without electricity» and said that they are waiting for «additional information from experts». «There may be interruptions also in the supply of drinking water. Stay in shelters,» he said, Ukrinform news agency reported.

EXPLOSIONS IN CRIMEA These attacks have been preceded by several explosions recorded in the area of Eupatoria, on the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed in 2014 by Russia. Several local media outlets point out that the deflagrations would be related to several training efforts by Russian forces in the area.

This same Wednesday, the Ukrainian government has insisted that the attacks against the energy industry «will not help Russia to strengthen its positions». The Ministry of Defense has thus indicated that such moves «will have no effect and will not slow down the advance of the forces to liberate the temporarily occupied territories».

The Deputy Minister of Defense, Hanna Maliar, pointed out that the «vast majority of the enemy’s missiles have hit energy infrastructure» and pointed out that these attacks «are aimed at the civilian population», as reported by the Ukrinform news agency.

«This will not discourage the civilian population. The enemy is mistaken if it thinks that the destruction of these infrastructures will distract the Ukrainian forces and drive them away from the front in the east and south,» he said.
