Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has lost in her bid to win a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives to Mary Peltola, who will make history as the first Native representative for her state in the U.S. House.

Palin, who aspired to the Vice-Presidency of the country in the 2018 elections, hand in hand with then Senator John McCain, had already suffered a previous defeat in a first attempt to reach the Capitol and, according to the projections of the major media, in the November 8 elections she has added another one.

Peltola, 49, will also put an end to almost five decades of Republican dominance, since the seat was practically owned by Don Young, who died last March and had entered the House of Representatives in 1973.

In any case, the Alaska results do not endanger the Republican Party’s control of the House of Representatives. The Democrats, for their part, hope to retain control of the Senate for the next two years.
